« In beauty, I know what works for me. I have a Taurus in Mercury, so the way I think is like a Taurus, but I’m an Aries with a Cancer moon…and a Leo rising. So I’m really detail-oriented and very particular about what I use and how I use it. That’s actually a big part of why I created my own line. My skin needs to be great all the time—I can’t have an off-day—so I wanted organic products that could detoxify the skin but also put back all the nutrients from superfoods like noni. It’s an ingredient that’s been used for thousands of years in Polynesia—they grow it in Australia as well. It’s got over a hundred vitamins and minerals in it, so when you put it on your skin and in your body, it’s something you notice. It’s an ingredient in our Noni Glow Oil, along with rosehip and sea buckthorn, and I love to use it as a great base for makeup. I’ll mix it with the Kora Tinted Day Cream and my favorite concealer, « Un » Cover-Up from RMS.
Makeup for me is for work or for date night. Usually I won’t even wear mascara if I’m just at home. Sometimes I’ll put on the RMS Lip2Cheek in Beloved, which is good for daytime wear. But to be a bit more glam, I like Charlotte Tilbury’s line. It’s not organic, but life is about balance, right? I’m all about 80% healthy and 20% indulgence. She makes a good red-orange called Tell Laura. It’s matte, which photographs really well. But I actually prefer to wear a velvet finish—I think it looks better in real life. Lancôme L’Absolu Velours is a nice one that has a matte finish…but not too matte. Today, though, I’m just wearing Dior Lip Glow with a little bit of Laura Mercier’s Lip Pencil in Baby Lips for a natural, glossier look.
Eyeshadow is not my strength, but I’ll take the blush I’m using—La Prairie Cellular Cream Blush—and dab a little of it on my eyes as well. One of my favorite things to do is a simple cat eye. It’s not too fancy. And my eyebrows are a little unruly, so they need a lot of taming. Instead of a gel, I’ll use Glossier Boy Brow in Brown.
Oh God, my hair is always an issue for me. It’s been short for a while–short hair is harder to style, but you know what I did? I got a perm called the American Wave Perm. I heard it was the healthiest type of perm, so I did that. It was really great for during the summer because I didn’t have to do anything to my hair. I just would get in the water and get out and it would have this nice wave to it. My natural hair is dead straight, and I’ve always admired people who have naturally curly hair. So, that was an interesting experiene. I only did it one other time in my life, when I was little. The only other thing I do to my hair is use Klorane Dry Shampoo. Nothing else.
For something like the Met Gala, I like to have a good hour and a half to get ready. And I’m all about lighting. I like to dim the lights, light candles, and put on a good playlist. I love dancing, and I love karaoke. My go-to song is Peggy Lee’s “Give Me Fever” or anything from Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks. I’m a country girl!
New York is the best city to go out in, but I live in LA now. The best party here is Madonna’s—she throws it once a year. For red carpet, I prefer something long, elegant, classic—something I could wear 20 years on. But for Madonna, I always wear a short, trendy cocktail dress, something fun to dance in, because the music’s always amazing. She always comes out and does a little number, but the music is what really makes it. Everyone’s really dressed up and no one’s allowed to take pictures, so it’s really private. You feel safe, and just have a good time.
Then when I get back home, I hit the sack. I always make sure I have a shower and wash my face. Makeup comes off no matter what time it is. I have never once forgotten my whole life to take makeup off my face before bed. And I’m obsessed with layering on the Noni Glow Balm on dry areas as a treatment. But that’s it. Pretty crazy, huh? »

MIRANDA KERR ON HER SKINCARE AND EVERY STEP OF HER WEDDING
When it’s time to sit down for my interview with Miranda Kerr in her suite at The Mark Hotel, the supermodel asks, very politely, could we please lounge on the bed while we speak instead? Other than the fact that I would never say no to Miranda Kerr, especially in her own hotel room, I can’t help but adore that this girlish, smile-y, slumber-party side of her I’m used to seeing on screens and billboards wasn’t just an image for her past campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Swarovski, and now her own beauty brand, KORA Organics… She loves to gab and give supportive words of advice. Plus, those dimples.
“I love, love, love Kundalini yoga—you should go to Kundalini Yoga East!” exclaims the Australia native, who actually practiced Kundalini with her husband on their wedding day (more on that below). “Yogi Bhajan [who is credited with bringing Kundalini to the U.S.] and his philosophy on life… He was a pretty cool dude. He said something like: ‘All of you, running around, doing a hundred things, stop. Be patient. Everything will come to you.’ He always says to be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. It’s right up my alley. There’s a t-shirt I have at home that says ‘Yogi Bhajan is my homeboy.’ That’s how I feel.”
Kerr knows plenty about doing a hundred things. Just hours earlier, she was hosting dozens of beauty editors at Woom Center, a boutique meditation center in the Bowery in New York City, where her healer,Holly Star, prescribed crystals to calm worries and empower missions. It has been widely reported that Kerr loves crystals, especially rose quartz, and, in fact, all of the products in Kora Organics are infused with the energetic vibrations of rose quartz before they get bottled up. Same goes for her new range of skincare: a suite of cleansers, mists, and moisturizers for three different skin types, plus balms for the face and body. Like the rest of her products, the Australian noni fruit is the hero ingredient, which Kerr swears by to keep her healthy inside and outside—it’s even in her supplement sachets. And with a schedule like hers, we’ll have whatever she’s having.
“I just came from Paris, and then I got off the plane, and I’ve hit the ground running,” she says of her packed travel schedule. “But tonight I booked time to see Holly, and we’re going to have a little session, and then I’m going to hopefully fall asleep and get up in the morning, 5AM, and do it all over again!” Yogi Bhajan would appreciate that she worked in her moment of mindfulness. And we appreciated, in particular, all the beauty intel Kerr shared with us, as well as wedding-day details about her recent marriage to husband Evan Spiegel. As you’ll see below, it was very Miranda Kerr.

On her NuFace device: “It’s so funny because I don’t really know exactly what it does, but I do know that my face feels better after using it. I don’t know the scientific details behind it. I just kind of use it once every now and then. I haven’t used it in a while. I probably should’ve used it today. I’m feeling a little bit puffy. » (Left to right): Mason Pearson Detangler Brush, KORA Organics Balancer Rose Mist, NuFace Trinity Facial Toning Device, Actinica Lipsomal Sunscreen SPF 50+, KORA Organics Rose + Noni Daily Hand Cream, KORA Organics Noni Glow Body Balm, Bernard Jenson Brush for body brushing.
(Left to right): Rituel de Fille Phosphene Rare Light Luminizer in Illuminateur, Dior Addict Lip.
Glow Color Reviver Balm in Pink, Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Baby Lips, KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Balm.
(Clockwise from upper left): Dior 5 Couleurs Eye Shadow in Inflame, Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer, RMS “Un” Cover-Up, RMS Lip2Cheek in Beloved, Suqqu Foundation, It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder, Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color in Naked Bronze, Kiko Milano Pure Clean Scrub & Peel Wipes.
“This is actually the first time I’m showing this new product! It’s our new KORA Organics Rose Quartz Luminizer, which will be available via koraorganics.com very soon. It has actual rose quartz powder in it. I apply it to my cheeks, temples, and brow bones to add a luminous glow.” Bangle, given to her by her mother; Watch and tennis bracelet, Cartier
“I had the Flynn (her son) [necklace] for a while. The Evan one (her husband)… I went to Barneys and I [didn’t] have much time. I just had a look and there were all these [necklaces with] words like happiness, joy, peace…and obviously I was very attracted to that because I’m very interested in positive words of affirmation. On the back of all KORA products are words like grace, love, blessings, joy. So, I was like, ‘This is so cool! Love.’ Then I was like ‘Evan?’ There were no other names there. It was just happiness, joy, love…and Evan? I was like, ‘That’s really random!’ Then the lady said, ‘No, that one’s not for sale, it’s a sample.’ I said, ‘please, can I buy this one?’ She was like, ‘Let me just call the manager and see if we can do it.’ This is meant to be!”
Compact, Estée Lauder; Solitaire necklace, Broken English in L.A.
On how she travels when flying: “When I get on the plane, I do the cleanse, mist, and moisturize, and—this is my new obsession—face balm, but I first do the Noni Glow Face Oil. The Japanese ReFa [silver face massage tool] gets the blood circulation going; I like how it feels. I’ll use it before I get off the plane because your face gets a bit puffy from flying. I will use the mist with it when I use it. I love seaweed, a little seaweed snack, and almonds. I often will pack my food to go on the plane. Then I know what I’ve got.”
“I like this water because the pH is 7.8. It’s in a glass bottle, so I prefer to drink out of a glass bottle if I’m not at home drinking out of my filter because I have a water filter at home. I like the size because we need to drink that all day, and it’s a good way to monitor it.”
